Web Drafter

When the thick web of fibers exits the crosslapper, the fibers are mainly oriented in a direction across the web. Additionally there are noticeable crosslapper marks in the web. The web coming out of the crosslapper is slow and heavy. The web drafter addresses these problems.

  1. It minimizes crosslapper marks and makes the web more uniform.
  2. It orients the fibers more in the machine direction.
  3. It reduces the web weight as it stretches the fiber.
  4. It increases the speed of the entire line.

Show below is a 1993 model Heregth12 roll web drafter. This one has the ability to pneumatically raise the top rolls. Notice that the rolls are covered with wire. The wire tooth is triangular in shape and thus has no direction which means it easily releases fibers.
